The entrance of a new student named Shoko Nishimiya in her class arouses her interest: she is deaf. Despite her disability, she does her best to live normally and relate to the class. 

One day, Shoya takes out her hearing aids and her ears bleed. Soon after, the school administration realizes what is happening and the principal confronts the class about it. The teacher, suddenly enraged, points to Shoya as the culprit. Shoya names his friends as accomplices, but they turn against him, vehemently denying his participation. Soon, the class intimidation is directed at him. He is subjected to the same treatment he gave Shoko. 

It’s a very nice movie where he explains a bullying situation, which nowadays there are many cases but no one knows.
